This selection of prints is from a series of watercolors depicting greenhouse interiors that were created over a period of about thirteen years. Each piece was painted from direct observation inside greenhouses in New England and Belgium; some taking months and others years to complete.
In addition to the pleasure of discovering greenhouse “studios” in various artist colonies and semi-private estates, I had the tremendous privilege of spending a year painting in the Royal Glass Houses in Brussels Belgium; a spectacular complex of glass houses on the palace grounds, closed to the general public, save for a brief window of time once a year in the spring.
